Linear algebraic groups as parameterized Picard–Vessiot Galois groups

چکیده
We show that a linear algebraic group is the Galois group of a parameterized Picard-Vessiot extension of k(x), x′ = 1, for certain differential fields k, if and only if its identity component has no one dimensional quotient as a linear algebraic group.

Computing the differential Galois group of a one-parameter family of second order linear differential equations
We develop algorithms to compute the differential Galois group corresponding to a one-parameter family of second order homogeneous ordinary linear differential equations with rational function coefficients. More precisely, we consider equations of the form ∂2Y ∂x2 + r1 ∂Y ∂x + r2Y = 0, where r1,r2 ∈C(x, t) and C is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We work in the setting of ...
متن کاملGeneric Picard-vessiot Extensions for Non-connected Groups
Abstract. Let K be a differential field with algebraically closed field of constants C and G a linear algebraic group over C. We provide a characterization of the K-irreducible G-torsors for nonconnected groups G in terms of the first Galois cohomology H(K, G) and use it to construct Picard-Vessiot extensions which correspond to non-trivial torsors for the infinite quaternion group, the infinit...
متن کاملOn a Discrepancy among Picard-vessiot Theories in Positive Characteristics
There is a serious discrepancy among literature on the Picard-Vessiot theory in positive characteristics (for iterative differential fields). We consider descriptions of Galois correspondence in four approaches to this subject: Okugawa’s result [7], Takeuchi’s Hopf algebraic approach [11] (and [3]), the result of Matzat and van der Put [6], and the model theoretic approach by Pillay [8]. In the...
متن کاملAlgebraic D-groups and Differential Galois Theory
We discuss various relationships between the algebraic Dgroups of Buium, 1992, and differential Galois theory. In the first part we give another exposition of our general differential Galois theory, which is somewhat more explicit than Pillay, 1998, and where generalized logarithmic derivatives on algebraic groups play a central role. In the second part we prove some results with a “constrained...
متن کاملA Categorical Approach to Picard-vessiot Theory
Picard-Vessiot rings are present in many settings like differential Galois theory, difference Galois theory and Galois theory of Artinian simple module algebras. In this article we set up an abstract framework in which we can prove theorems on existence and uniqueness of Picard-Vessiot rings, as well as on Galois groups corresponding to the Picard-Vessiot rings. As the present approach restrict...
